The Voices of the Prairie: A History of Broadcasting in South Dakota project demonstrates intellectual merit by advancing knowledge across the field of broadcasting with significant state impact. The documentary series focuses on people important to the development of broadcasting in the state. Many of these people and their contributions are unknown to the general population of South Dakota. With dissemination through showings at the STATE theatre in Sioux Falls, the South Dakota Broadcasters Association annual meeting, and through presentations in Brookings and Sioux Falls through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, the citizens of South Dakota are learning more about our broadcasting history. The project episodes have also been accepted for presentation at the Center for Western Studies 54th Annual Dakota Conference and juried review and acceptance at the South Dakota Film Festival, where the episode featuring Dean Sorenson won best documentary short.

This multi-dimensional performance from SDSU features poetry, dance, and visual elements inspired by St. Hildegard. It explores the feminine aspect of God as creator, denoting spiritual growth. This is truly cross-disciplinary with collaboration among faculty and professionals in the areas of design, dance, poetry, and music. My work to create a performance broadcast of the project opened the work up to a larger audience, as the live performances occurred at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. The piece includes aspects from the original performance along with post-produced poetry and imagery segments that I created. The project was accepted through professional review for broadcast on South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB) as well as blind peer review and acceptance by the National Communication Association (NCA) Film and New Media division for conference presentation.
